Over two days outside the Newseum in the summer of 2015, we invited passers-by to play an interstitial game (a quick moment of play between other activities) about water consumption and the drought in California. An experiment in how we consume journalism, News Park combined a short, collaborative card game with a news-based graphic installation to begin a community dialogue about a news topic in public spaces. It's available to print and play for free here.
News Park was a project for the JoLT initiative, designed by myself and my two fellow Fellows, Cherisse Datu and Kelli Dunlap. As co-designer, I helped develop a cohesive and efficacious experience for participants that met targeted journalistic goals. Additionally, I led the development of the information design, the visual style, and the overall brand for this project.
